Summer Reading 2020: Imagine Your Story FAQ

SUMMER READING 2020 IS HERE!

Monday, June 1st - Sunday, July 12th

The library opens to the public THIS Monday, June 1st, at 9am, and we will hit the ground running!

Are you ready to join us???

Summer Reading will look a little different than what you're used to, but our goal is to provide you with fun VIRTUAL PROGRAMS and, most importantly, BOOKS! Oh, and did we mention you can help the library get some cool new swag?

What's the theme?

This summer's theme is IMAGINE YOUR STORY! We will be celebrating fairy tales, folklore, heroes, villains, knights, princesses, kings, Jedi, and more!

How do I sign up?

Visit our calendar by clicking HERE! This year you can sign up in the same way that you would sign up for a program. Look for June 1st on the calendar and click on it to sign up! Of course, we are still happy to sign you up in person at the front desk if you choose to stop in.

What types of programs are you having?

The library will be offering ALL VIRTUAL PROGRAMS this summer! Visit our calendar for more details:

Adult Trivia: Mondays @ 7pm (Weekly Prize: $20 Gift Card to a Local Establishment)

Youth Programs: Wednesdays @ 1pm (Weekly Prize: $10 Dortee's Gift Card)

StoryTots Tea Party: Thursdays @ 10:30am (Weekly Prize: Fairy Tale Book)

NO REGISTRATION, ACCOUNTS, OR PASSWORDS REQUIRED FOR PROGRAMS! Just look for the ZOOM Meeting ID or Kahoot link on each program's calendar details. We will also post these on social media!

StoryTots Tea Parties will have craft kits that can be picked up near the library's front door at check-in or delivered to your car via curbside.

How do I keep track of the books I've read?

Don't worry! We will do it for you! The library will keep track of the TOTAL number of items that the community reads. No tickets or slips will be given out this year. Any books and audiobooks that get checked out will be counted toward new library services that benefit the community! But more on that below!

Okay, so what about the prizes?

In place of individual prizes, this year we will have a COMMUNITY Prize Opportunity!

This can be fulfilled with YOUR help! As a COMMUNITY, we aim to hit the following goals:

1000 Items Checked Out: 6 NEW iPads for in-house use

2000 Items Checked Out: Lawn & Garden Tools available for checkout

3000 Items Checked Out: New Wi-Fi Hotspots available for checkout

Plus, 1000 DIGITAL Checkouts (Hoopla or OverDrive) will get us a new Virtual Reality Headset for the PlayStation 4 to use for our gaming programs!!! LET'S DO THIS!

Got all of that?

If you made it this far, that's great! If you still have questions, that's great too! We know there are a lot of new changes here to Summer Reading and life in general. Stay tuned in the following days for tutorials on how to sign up, how to use Zoom, Kahoot, and more!

Stay Safe!
