Summer Reading

Fiiz Boom Read!Summer Reading 2014 was a great success! We had over 350 kids sign up this year and nearly 160 kids complete their packets. The summer reading finale party on July 15th was literally an explosive time with the antics of Dr. Ein and Dr. Stein.

New Books

The library is getting new books all the time!  New picture books are displayed at the front of the juvenile section in the library.  Older readers can find new chapter books on the book case just past the DVDs.  And for those of you who prefer it real, our new nonfiction books are along the wall at the end of our nonfiction section.  Keep checking back for updates from Lauren and Brandi about all the great new books they’re excited about!

Find it in the catalog! Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library by Chris Grabenstein

Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library follows the story of reluctant reader Kyle and his adventures with his friends while spending the night at his town’s brand new, state-of-the-art library.  And this library is amazing!  Virtual reality history games!  Levitating platforms that will lift you up to the book of your choice!  Holograms of authors reading their works on the ceiling!  Who wouldn’t want to spend the night in that library?

Kyle and a group of students all won an essay contest and their prize was to spend the night in the library before anyone else got a chance to even see inside.  After their night is over, the kids are told that they can go home OR they can stay and play one more game.  Mr. Lemoncello is a very clever and he has created a secret passage out of the library.  The first kid to find his or her way out is the winner.  And the stakes are very high.  If you love adventure, mystery, or comedy, this is a book for you!

Kids Events

Brandi hosts all kinds of events at the library for kids.  We have a monthly craft program for kids ages 4 to 11, an afternoon where kids in grades 1 through 5 can come in and play some Wii games, and a science program where kids can have fun and get messy!  Silly Scientists is for kids ages 4 to 11, but kids under 4 are welcome as long as a parent is with them.  We are also happy to announce that story times are back!  Starting in June, Brandi will host story times in the library every Thursday.

Go to our events calendar to see all the great programs we are offering!
